About Mips The Mips system is designed to best imitate the head's own safety system. In cases where the head is subjected to angled impacts (rotations), the brain can move in the fluid inside the head, thereby reducing the force that the brain would otherwise be exposed to in the event of a fall or blow. Mips helmets are designed with the same technology in mind, where the integrated low-friction layer on the inside of the helmet is intended to absorb the energy that could otherwise cause injury to the brain.
